The reflection of German cinematography in the Czech film press 1936-1939

Bachelor thesis "Reflection of German cinematography in selected Czech film periodicals from 1936 till March 1939" records in what way Czech film periodicals reacted to the development and changes of the German cinematography in context of political and social transformations both nations underwent during the above-mentioned period. The thesis focuses on whether the film periodicals changed the way they reflected German cinematography during the period of escalating Nazi aggression towards Czechoslovakia and especially in the situation after the acceptance of Munich Agreement. The opening section covers broader historical and media context of Czechoslovakia in the era of the First Czechoslovak Republic. The next part describes and characterizes analysed film periodicals, weekly Kinorevue, Filmový kurýr and biweekly Filmové listy. Separate chapter is focused on German cinematography from its development during the period of mute films, throughout the changes caused by the introduction of audio films, until the German film industry was put under state control by Hitler and the film was used as a tool of Nazi propaganda.
